Saudi activists staged a rally to renew a call for the release of people held in prison without charges. At least five people were reportedly arrested during the demonstration, which came amid tight security despite the monarchy’s strict ban on gatherings. A similar protest was held by mainly the female relatives of the Saudi detainees in the city of Buraidah, north of Riyadh. Many of the prisoners in Saudi jails are held without charges or trial for up to 15 years.
